“Homenaje” translates to homage, and is a tribute to Puerto Rico, where I was born and grew up. The song blends Afro-latin and Afro-Caribbean rhythms with jazz fusion, rock, and prog. It starts off with a conversation that reminds me of “La Plaza del Mercado”, a town hub my grandmother used to take me often as a kid. You can find several folkloric melodies interlaced within the different themes of the song, and a lot of native imagery inserted throughout the video.
